Jorge Becerra is an experienced artist born in Colombia. In his work, he emphasizes the multifaceted nature of his work, the skillful handling of colors and the use of mixed techniques to create three-dimensionality.

In the early years of his career he entered classical figurative art and created numerous paintings of still lifes, landscapes, animals and nudes. The horses became frequent and highly valued representations, due to the majesty and expressiveness of their representation.

The master has worked numerous paintings in different media such as pastel, charcoal, oil on canvas and acrylics. At the same time, the artist has made sculptures for public spaces and currently incorporates them into the interior design through painting and mural sculpture.

New styles

At the beginning of the 21st century, he began to explore new styles, opting for more contemporary concepts in which he intentionally emphasizes individual perception and emotional and intuitive aspects through the chromatic environment and textures.

With the new millennium were born new collections inspired by the American prehistory and with these works revealed a new style that mixes the sculpture with the pictorial techniques.

The master wanted to conciliate his canvases with his sculptures, putting more contrast and adding maximum elegance with diverse materials, metallic textures and translucent applications.

Exhibitions

Jorge Becerra has made multiple exhibitions, has participated in biennials and won numerous prizes nationwide for his sculptures and canvases.

In the present you can visit four of his most famous and recent award-winning sculptures, in the Sculptors' Park and in the Historic Memory Center in Bogota, Colombia.

In the Sculptors' Park stands the sculpture inspired by the archaeological culture of St. Augustine? Lunar deity? And the 50 cent coin with the "Face of the Liberator", which alludes to Simon Bolivar, one of the most relevant figures in the political history of Colombia.

In the Center of Historical Memory is the fist? Leaders martyrs? , Inspired by the late Colombian leader Jorge Eliecer Gaitán Cortés. There is also the sculpture "Cry of freedom," which honors the historic heroine Policarpa Salavarrieta.

At the moment it seeks to spread and commercialize the art of a democratic way and of easy access for the people, through its online store of art and decoration.
